Rob is a serial learner whose experience brings different perspectives and skills to solving complex problems. Born to deaf parents, Rob grew up in a world of social activism and developed a strong affinity for the underdog. His natural writing skills led him early in his career to journalism, where he excelled but grew restless as the industry struggled to adapt to a world with an internet. After several years developing his management skills in the restaurant industry in B.C., Rob moved to Edmonton and found tremendous satisfaction learning new skills working on service rigs. In 2004, Rob moved to Montreal to work with his musician wife-to-be, and soon they were touring her show around the middle east and Asia. Dissatisfied with his inability to answer the question “Is Climate Change real?”, Rob returned to school to study science, and he hasn’t looked back. He now lives in Edmonton with his wife and their two kids.
Rob enjoys solving difficult problems and finding efficiencies. He sees his role on a team as one of an interpreter who helps connect people to ideas. He excels at synthesizing and distilling complicated material into a form that any audience can understand. He takes tremendous pride in accomplishing whatever task is put in front of him, and in holding himself to the highest standards.
Rob’s overall mission is to leave the world a better place than he found it, and to help others who share that mission. His longstanding interest is in the protection of water resources.
